It's the silly little plastic tag that's used by several high street stores to give their clothing range that more upmarket edge. Here's what Just Gai had to say on the matter.

"The other week I bought a dress in the Per Una section of M&S. I don't often shop there but it was a bargain - reduced from £45 to £15 - and I couldn't resist. However, when I unpacked it at home I discovered that, in addition to the card swing tags displaying size, price and washing instructions, it also carried a completely useless plastic tag. M&S are doing their bit to reduce waste for which they are to be commended, but they could do with losing these pointless tags."

There's no sitting on the fence for me. The Per Una clothes are lovely as they are and don't need any useless tat to prove it. At least the thread they use is fine and that can biodegrade in the composter, but come on, do we need the plastic tag?

So what do you think folks...shall we send Just Gai's contender to BIN 101? I think so, but it's not up to me. Go place your vote now.

And if you really want to follow up on more labelling misdemeanors, why pop over and see what Mrs G had to say about her July Dustbin Demon, the thin plastic tag strip. Whatever happened to the sewn in label eh? No tag, no plastic, just some very thin card.Almost Mrs Averagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03566374419318255177noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7087652607632509164.post-56412996090336475732008-08-27T12:01:00.000+01:002008-08-28T20:23:07.900+01:00Nominate your contenderDo you have things which are too good for the bin but not good enough for recycling.? These silly little sachets are such a waste of resource, energy and effort that they are my latest candidate for BIN 101.

Any self-respecting condiment lover would need to use three or four of these annoying little tikes, to get anywhere near the same amount of sauce from simply tapping a condiment bottle's bottom.

What a waste. They're ugly little things and messy too. I don't want to send them to landfill, but I don't want to keep them either.

And don't let comments about health & safety sway you. There are many alternatives available.

So please, let me drop them into BIN 101, where there's hope they will be outlawed for good.

UPDATE: Hooray...Despite the odd objection the condiment sachets have been summoned to BIN 101, with 100% of voters voting YES!Almost Mrs Averagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03566374419318255177noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7087652607632509164.post-41970616772886775802008-07-13T22:48:00.005+01:002008-07-28T08:11:28.193+01:00Fruity Bubble Wrap
Surely this is a key contender for Bin 101...the small rectangles of bubble wrap that can be found at the bottom of fruit punnets! A comfy little bed for soft fruit like strawberries and raspberries.

Get out of here! I don't want them in the first place. Too good to be binned but not good enough for recycling!

UPDATE: Hooray...The Bubble Wrap got a good sending off to BIN 101, with 100% of voters voting YES!Almost Mrs Averagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03566374419318255177noreply@blogger.com3
